Welcome from the First Lady
As First Lady of South Carolina, it has been a privilege serving on the Commission that oversees the beautiful and historic Lace House, as well as the adjacent lush gardens. While Mark and I enjoy using the Lace House for dinners and other State events, we also want to share this gem of Columbia with those who will appreciate its beauty as much as we do. That is why we've chosen to rent the Lace House and Gardens for weddings, parties, meetings and other events.
During my first five years as First Lady, one of my goals has been to renovate the Caldwell-Boylston Gardens. As of this spring, we have completed the first phase of this project—the Wedding Garden. Please feel free to stop by and take a walk through the gardens or relax on a bench and read a book any time during the work week between 9:30am and 4:30pm. More than anything, I want South Carolinians to enjoy the gardens as much as my family and I do.
As you plan your special event, I hope you feel as “at home” in the Lace House as we do. The house holds many memories of Southern celebrations dating as far back as 1854, and I hope you will add more special memories with your event---whether a black tie ball or a barbeque.
Enjoy!
Warmly,
Jenny Sanford
